新年のご挨拶

「世界の真ん中で咲き誇る『私』」

昨年10月13日、大阪万博が熱狂のうちに幕を閉じました。たった2が月半前のことですが、もうずいぶん前のことのようです。「多様でありながら、ひとつ」とは、その万博で建築家・藤本壮介の大屋根リングが掲げたコンセプトでした。

明治維新以降、封建制身分階級制度が撤廃され、戦後には華族制度も廃止され、高度経済成長期を経て男女雇用機会均等法が制定された後、近年の教育の場においても、SDGsが平等を目指す年齢、性別、障がい、人種、民族、生まれ、宗教、経済状態などにおいて、子どもたちの困りごとは様々に再定義されました。これまで照らされていなかった人たちにしっかりと光をあてる考え方であり、「多様でありながら、ひとつ」であるために、さまざまな分類の定義を包摂する姿勢が求められています。

子育てにおいて、「これが正解だから」とその子に対してひとつの未来を押し付けるような総合計画を本人以外が立てることを望まれていないことは誰もが知っています。
“多様にしてひとつ”な環境に身を置かせてあげることで、さまざまな価値観に触れ、新しい世界をたくさん見ることができ、そしてその中でたくさんの初体験をすることで自分の個性や、自分の好きなことに気付きます。
行動の選択に自由を得て、はじめて自分で選択できる子どもが育ちます。
その中で、多様な仲間や大人たちに触れ合い、前後左右に振られるからこそ軸が定まります。

コロナが終わり、オリンピックが終わり、万博が終わり、新しい日本のリーダーも掲げられ始まった2026年。
冒頭の言葉「世界の真ん中で咲き誇る『私』」は、氏が表現した彼女の政治理念をもじったものです。
いま私の目の前に居る人、私の周りに居る人、私が出会ってきた人、全ての人が、世界の真ん中で『私』を咲き誇らせています。
子どもたちが将来、世界のどこかで咲き誇らせる彼らにとっての理想の『私』に向けて、一歩を踏み出すお手伝いをすることが、私たち教育現場の価値であり、周りで見守る大人たちの価値です。

全ての皆さまにとって素敵な一年となりますように。

On October 13 last year, the Osaka Expo came to a close amid great excitement. Although it was only two and a half months ago, it already feels like a distant memory. “United in diversity” was the concept embodied by the Grand Roof Ring designed by architect Sou Fujimoto for the Expo.
Since the Meiji Restoration, Japan has abolished its feudal class system; after the war, the peerage system was also eliminated. Following the period of high economic growth and the enactment of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act for Men and Women, recent years have seen further change in the field of education. Through the lens of the SDGs, children’s challenges have been redefined across many dimensions – age, gender, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion, and economic circumstances – always with the aim of equality. This approach seeks to shine a light on those who have long gone unnoticed, and it calls for an inclusive attitude that embraces diverse definitions in order to be “diverse, yet one.”
In raising children, everyone understands that it is not desirable for someone other than the child to impose a single future through a so-called master plan, claiming “this is the correct answer.” By placing children in an environment that is “diverse, yet one,” they are exposed to many values, encounter many new worlds, and through countless first experiences, come to recognize their own individuality and discover what they truly love. Only when they gain freedom in choosing their actions do children grow into individuals who can make choices for themselves. By interacting with diverse peers and adults, and by being influenced from all directions, they develop a strong inner axis.
Now that COVID-19 has ended, the Olympics have concluded, the Expo has come to an end, and new leaders for Japan have begun to emerge, we find ourselves in 2026.
Everyone around me, and everyone I have encountered is blooming proudly as their own “I” at the center of the world. Helping children take their first steps toward the ideal “I” they will one day allow to bloom somewhere in the world is the value of our work in education, and it is also the value of the adults who watch over and support them.
